Lupus Part 2

Praise the Lord, everyone!
I pray everyone is well. I started a series on an illness that is affecting more and more people of color each year. The illness is lupus, in part one I explained what lupus, part two will give you information that will tell you the cause and ow it is diagnosed.
The cause of lupus is unknown, but there seems to be something that triggers your immune system to attack various areas of the body. Things that may contribute to the development of this disease include viruses, genetic makeup, and certain chemicals.
In females, your hormones are believed to play a role in someone developing lupus because women get this more than men. This can be true especially during reproductive years when hormone levels are very high. Only 10% of people with lupus have someone in their family with this disease.
Lupus can be diagnosed through several symptoms. If you are experiencing a symptom from the list below, Saints, do not hesitate to go get tested. This is very important! You can have these symptoms one after the other or at the same time to be diagnosed.
  • Malar rash
  • Photo sensitivity (sensitive to sunlight)
  • Oral ulcers (mouth sores)
  • Arthritis
  • Kidney disorder (excess protein or red blood cells in urine)
  • Neurological disorder
  • Inflammation (lining around lungs and heart)
  • Blood disorder (anemia, leukopenia, decrease in blood platelets)
  • Immune disorder (present in ertain blood cells or antibodies, or false positive test for syphilis)
  • Abnormal blood work (positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) result from blood work)
Saints of God, it is so important that you take care of yourself. Especially if you have been diagnosed with lupus. Remember God is there for you, you don’t have to go through this alone. In part one there are scriptures that will help encourage and give you strength.
Be blessed
