Prescription Drugs Part 2

Praise the Lord everyone!
In part 1, I began to write about the increase in prescription drug abuse in the Christianity community. The affects that these drugs can produce in your life if you’re not careful can ruin your life and have a negative affect on your family.
When you have surgery or get hurt, be careful when the doctor prescribes the pain medicine. Get all the info you can on what your doctor want you to take. There are certain medicines prescribed to help manage your pain that over a period of time can become addictive.
Here is a list of the medicines for pain:
  • Codeine: If mixed with your favorite drink (such as Kool-Aid), it is used to get high
  • Fentanyl: Powerful drug linked to several celebrity deaths
  • Hydrocordone/Acetaminophen: Vicodin, Narcos, Lortab, and Lorcet
  • Hydromorphone: Dilaudid and Exalgo
  • Meperidine: Demerol
  • Methadone: Dolophine and Methoclose
  • Morphine
  • Oxycodone: Can be crushed and smoked. Can also be liquified and shot in veins with a needle.
  • Oxycodone/Acetaminophen: Percocet, Endocet, and Roxicet
These drugs are taken under the care of a doctor.
Saints, be careful if you find yourself beginning to take more than the recommended dose, especially if you don’t need it. Stop, see your doctor! That could be the start of an addiction. Sometimes without realizing it or not, if you have issues in your life that you are dealing or struggling with, these drugs can make you feel as if you can cope. These drugs can also make you mentally check out for a while so you don’t have to deal with the issues. But, these drugs will begin to take you on a downward spiral.
Before you get to this point, know that God is the answer to your emotional as well as physical pain. Here are some scriptures to keep you on course with God while taking these prescription drugs for your pain: Psalms 50:15, Isaiah 5:11, 1 Peter 5:8, Romans 6:16, Romans 13:14, and James 4:7
Be blessed
